As part of the 2008
National Hockey League’s All-Star festivities, an
exhibition featuring photographs taken by
Bruce Bennett, Getty Images' Director of
Photography, Hockey Imagery was displayed
at the Saturday night All-Star celebration. The
gallery displayed 40 photographs of the game’s top
all-stars from the past 33 years, and served as
one of the centerpieces for the celebration which
hosted over 4,000 guests at the World Congress
Center in Atlanta shortly following the All-Star
Skills and Youngstars competition.
Bennett was chosen
because of the depth of his images spanning the
past three decades. In that time, he has shot over
3,800 NHL games, 25 All-Star games and 28 Stanley
Cup deciding games.
In the days prior to
the All-Star weekend, Bennett covered the Wayne
Gretzky Fantasy Camp in Phoenix. The sports
world’s most famous number ‘99’ posed with Bruce
and his ‘66’ in a humorous tribute to Bennett’s recent
placement as #66 on The Hockey News’ list of
“100 People of Power and Influence” in
hockey.
